In pictures: A look at the weekend's fleeting lunar eclipse

People all over the world were treated to the sight of a lunar eclipse over the weekend.

Those in parts of the Pacific Rim got an "unusually brief" total eclipse of the moon that lasted about five minutes.

It was particularly brief because the moon was passing through the upper part of the Earth's circular shadow rather than across the middle, which would have made it last longer.
