Ash and smoke billow from Mexico's Popocatepetl volcano, one of the world's most dangerous. Thousands of people are on evacuation alert after the volcano, located 56km from Mexico City, started showing warning signs on Sunday of its first eruption since 2000. The monitoring system of the volcano has been registering explosions with large emissions of steam, gas and ash. Mexico City is the world's fourth-biggest city, with 20 million people.
