CENTRAL PERK

After much media attention, Central Perk opened yesterday at Central Mall in Magazine Road.

The 100-seat cafe is inspired by the popular Friends comedy series and its interior is modelled after the fictional cafe in the show.

Fans of the popular series will be able to identify with the menu, as the dishes are inspired by elements in the show, with explanations that read like the show's episode descriptions. For example, the Rachel "Green" Salad ($13), named after actress Jennifer Aniston's character in the show, is described as "the one with pesto, olives, feta, and compressed fruit".

Other dishes include Chandler's Thanksgiving Chicken ($36); Joey's "You're My Everest" Turkey ($36 for 300g, $170 for whole turkey, subject to availability); and Ross & Rachel's Breakup Pizza with anchovies ($26).

The teatime menu (10 to 11am, 3 to 5pm) includes Joey's Peanut Butter Fingers ($4) and "Nestle Toulouse" cookies ($3).
