17 Singapore restaurants for fireworks feasting to welcome New Year

If you would like to dine out and welcome the New Year, book soon at one of these 17 restaurants

Published on Dec 22, 2013 9:00 AM

It is not too late to make reservations if you want to dine out and usher in the New Year over food, merriment and fireworks.

A SundayLife! check with 30 restaurants that have a view of the fireworks at Marina Bay and Sentosa found that while at least eight are already fully booked, many others are still accepting reservations.

Restaurateurs say that bookings for New Year's Eve dinners have been streaming in since the middle of the year.

Those which are full include Italian restaurant Dolce Vita at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore, Spanish restaurant Catalunya at The Fullerton Pavilion, micro-brewery and restaurant Level 33 at Marina Bay Financial Centre and Palm Beach Seafood Restaurant at One Fullerton.

Nouvelle French restaurant Jaan at Swissotel The Stamford has a waiting list of diners who are keen to dine there on New Year's Eve.

But there are still other popular restaurants that have room. These include SuperTree by IndoChine at Gardens by the Bay, Stellar at 1-Altitude at One Raffles Place, and Equinox Restaurant at Swissotel The Stamford. All are between 70 and 80 per cent full as of last Friday evening.

Options such as dining in a capsule at the Singapore Flyer and in a cable car that departs from Mount Faber are still available, but with limited places.

But if you cannot commit to a dining venue at the moment, there is no need to get antsy.

Some restaurants will be setting aside seats for walk-in diners.

Faber Bistro at Mount Faber, for example, will be saving its entire 42-seat alfresco area for walk-in diners.

Dinner prices have mainly remained unchanged from last year, although a handful of restaurants and hotels have adjusted prices upwards by 5 to 10 per cent to combat inflation and the rising cost of ingredients, they say.

SundayLife! lists 17 restaurants where you can dine and soak in the fireworks on the last day of the year.
