TTSH pays tribute to hospital workers who worked through Sars epidemic

Tan Tock Seng Hospital, the Sars-designated hospital during the 2003 epidemic, paid tribute to healthcare workers who battled the crisis a decade ago, at a commemoration event on Wednesday.

A SARS exhibition jointly organised by the National Heritage Board and TTSH, featuring tools used in the SARS fight and capturing poignant stories from that period, was also launched.

Health Minister Gan Kim Yong also unveiled a commemorative plaque. In his speech, Mr Gan said Singapore's healthcare workers worked selflessly to care for Sars patients.

"We mourned as a nation when some of these heroes succumbed to the infection so that patients they cared got could live on and recover." said Mr Gan, who thanked the nurses, doctors, and healthcare workers in all hospitals and healthcare institutions.
