SDA will not hold rally in Punggol East

The Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) has changed its mind and will not be holding any rally at Punggol East to save cost.

Instead, the party will be using the Internet and social media to spread its campaign message.

SDA chief and candidate Desmond Lim said on Saturday the party has shelved its plan to hold a rally on Sunday to re-direct its resources on "doing something new".

While declining to provide details, he said that it will involved using the Internet and social media to "reach voters directly".

Mr Lim is contesting the by-election along with three other candidates from the People's Action Party (PAP), Workers' Party (WP) and Reform Party (RP).

He had contested in the ward in the 2011 general election and received 4.5 per cent of the valid vote.
