Sex-for-contracts case: Verdict on Feb 14

THE prosecution has not proven its case against former Central Narcotics Bureau chief Ng Boon Gay beyond reasonable doubt, said defence lawyer Tan Chee Meng yesterday.

A key failing of the prosecution in the sex-for-contracts case was that it has not shown how Ng had been corrupt, hence he should be acquitted of the four charges he faces.

But the prosecution's case is that Ng cannot run away from the basic fact that he had obtained sexual favours from IT executive Cecilia Sue, who had business dealings with the very organisation he heads, said Deputy Public Prosecutor Tan Ken Hwee. The onus is also on Ng to show that he had obtained oral sex from Ms Sue without corrupt intent.

A verdict for the case will be out on Feb 14.
