Former top cop Ng Boon Gay will find out his fate on Thursday afternoon when the Subordinate Courts delivers the verdict in his sex-for-contracts trial.

If found guilty of corruption for obtaining sexual favours from IT executive Cecilia Sue, 36, the former director of the Central Narcotics Bureau faces a jail term of up to five years and fine of up to $100,000 for each of the four counts he is facing.

The 46-year-old is said to have forced her to perform oral sex in 2011 in exchange for helping to further the business interests of her then employers Hitachi Data Systems and Oracle Corporation Singapore.

During a trial that lasted 15 days the court heard from 10 witnesses including Ms Sue and Ng. The prosecution and defence presented varying views on how the Prevention of Corruption Act should be interpreted. The verdict in this case could affect the reading of Singapore's corruption laws.
