Malaysia Airlines MH17 crash: Loved ones of those on board post messages on social media

As news filtered in of the terrible tragedy that had befallen Malaysia Airlines MH17 in Ukraine, friends and loved ones of those suspected to have been on the ill-fated flight took to social media to post their prayers and well wishes.

Friends of Malaysia Airlines crew member Shazana Salleh's posted messages of anguish on a post she made on July 13.

The Twitter-sphere was also full of netizens claiming to have known passengers or crew members who were on board MH17.

Bizzarely, a Dutchman who went by the name of Cor Pan on Facebook uploaded this image before he appeared to board MH17, writing in Dutch: "If it disappears, this is what it looks like".

While his acquaintances initially wished him a safe journey, news of the crash prompted a dramatic turn as shocked friends began writing "Rest In Peace" in Dutch.
