Are you ready for one of the biggest consumer tech shows in Singapore?

Comex 2014 opens on Aug 28, featuring a staggering array of IT and consumer tech products. The four-day tech exhibition is held at levels 4 and 6 at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre. Admission is free.

You are probably looking out for deep discounts and sweet bargains on smartphones, tablets, laptops, cameras, television sets and other gadgets.

But great deals are not the only draw this year. Comex is adding more events to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Here's a list of 10 things to check out.

1. Google glass and other cool gadgets make debut

There is a tech showcase section, where visitors can get a hands-on preview of the latest gadgets - some of which have not been released in Singapore.

Visitors will be able to try out the Google Glass, using it to take pictures and record videos.

The Razer Nabu smart band and fitness tracker is also available for preview, while Casio's G-Shock GPW-1000 is the first watch to combine GPS and atomic clock time syncing.

2. Get your hands on Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's new white PS4

For gamers, a Gamers' Hub showcases the latest games on the upcoming next-gen gaming console, Microsoft's Xbox One.

Visitors can also pre-order the Xbox One and Sony's new white PlayStation 4 (PS4), both of which will be available in Singapore next month.

3. Spend and win

There are lucky draws to enter, with great prizes up for grabs.

For every $100 spent, visitors get a chance to win over $40,000 worth of cash and prizes.

Visitors can also sign up at the show to become a member of online accommodation marketplace Airbnb and get an additional chance to win.

4. Be the first to own new gadgets

There will be new products launching at the show.

Microsoft will begin selling its highly-anticipated Surface Pro 3 laptop-tablet hybrid at the show, while Lenovo will debut its Horizon 2 Table PC.

Home-grown audio company X-mini will also be showing off its new book-sized Bluetooth speaker, the X-mini Clear.

5. Check out the latest and hottest products

The Stage, next to the Tech Showcase, will have exhibitors showing off their latest and hottest products.

Participating exhibitors include Airbnb, Fujifilm, MyRepublic and Samsung.

In addition to learning about the various products, visitors stand to win prizes. There will also be a special segment daily at 12.30pm where visitors can learn more about the Google Glass from the experts.

6. Tech meets fashion

One of the new events this year is a tech "fashion" show, combining technology and fashion.

Models will be wearing and showing off the latest gadgets from leading brands such as Asus, Dell and HP.

The show will take place twice daily throughout the four-day event, with booth babes showcasing a variety of tech products.

7. Discounts, and more discounts

Deep discounts on broadband. MyRepublic is offering visitors a free Xiaomi Redmi S1 smartphone or Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (Wi-Fi) tablet when they sign up for a two-year contract on the Ultra or Gamer fibre broadband plan with the coupon found in the special Comex Supplement in the Aug 28 edition of The Straits Times.

Visitors can also buy a HP notebook and get a year's free subscription of MyRepublic's Ultra 1Gbps fibre broadband with a top up of $58 or $99, depending on the laptop model.

8. Earn free travel credits

Airbnb will show visitors how to use their smartphone to list, discover and book unique accommodations around the world.

In addition, free travel credits will be given to visitors who sign up to be Airbnb users at the show.

9. Snap selfies with babes

There will be many booth babes at the show.

Lenovo has even flown in two models from Taiwan.

A booth babe contest lets visitors snap selfies with the models. Visitors can then upload the photos to Facebook or Instagram and stand a chance to win cash prizes of up to $300.

10. Special deals for Straits Times readers

There are special offers for Straits Times readers.

Using coupons from the Digital Life Comex supplement found in the Aug 28 edition of The Straits Times, visitors can get special deals, such as redeeming a free Xbox One game, Need For Speed, when they pre-order a Xbox One console (limited to the first 350 customers).
