When my colleague, Wahyudi Soeriaatmadja, and I checked in for our flight to Poso, the woman behind the counter asked why.
“It’s dangerous over there right now,” she said.
I hesitated just a moment, then a sense of excitement took over as we headed out to visit a terrorist camp discovered just days before.
Since late August, this sleepy coastal town of 220,000 has woken up in terror. Militants murdered two policemen, shot dead one resident and injured three others, including two policemen, when a bomb went off at a police post. Handmade bombs were also discovered by residents elsewhere around the regency.
