Khairul Amri fires Singapore into AFF Suzuki Cup final
Singapore have reached the final of the Asean Football Federation Suzuki Cup following their 1-0 over the Philippines at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Wednesday evening.
In front of a 7,500-capacity crowd at the Jalan Besar Stadium, striker Khairul Amri scored the only goal of the game in the 19th minute with a shot from distance that left opposition goalkeeper Eduard Sacapano rooted to the spot.
The Azkals fought back in the second half, only to be denied by a stirring defensive performance from the hosts.
In the final, Singapore will face either Malaysia or Thailand, who play the second leg of their semi-final in Bangkok today.
The first leg of the final will be played at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Dec 19, with the return leg scheduled for Dec 22.
