MEN who fly their own private aircraft know more than most about living the high life. Instead of taking commercial flights, businessman Gregory Ang, 55, and Internet entrepreneur Fabian Lim, 43, pilot their own aircraft on business trips.

In the latest edition of The Life digital magazine, out on May 29, Mr Ang tells Life! journalist Bryna Singh about his many exotic destinations and flyovers, such as Cannes, the Red Sea, Dubai, Karachi and Chiang Mai.

One of the best perks of his hobby? His frequent flights to Tioman island in Malaysia for a roti prata breakfast with friends.

In this issue too, read about another unusual, almost quixotic form of aviation: hot-air ballooning. Follow travel writer Martin Fletcher, who describes the inaugural flight of the world's highest commercial hot-air balloon service.

Ballooning in Bhutan, he recounts the extraordinary sights of the 400-year-old Gangtey Goenpa monastery, herds of yaks and the majestic Phobjika Valley.

The Life also reviews three private-dining restaurants in Chengdu which elevate gustatory delights into works of art.

Pastries and blueberry sauce are re-imagined as an edible Chinese brush-and-ink set at Zi Fei restaurant, and this is just one of 20 sumptuous dishes sampled by Life! food critic Wong Ah Yoke. Also, view a selection of luxurious home accessories perfect for hosting a midnight outdoor soiree after the heat-laden month that was June.
