StarHub customers with a prepaid data plan can now use their phone's mobile data in Malaysia without having to worry about additional roaming fees.

This allows StarHub prepaid users to connect to any mobile network in Malaysia, and use their existing prepaid bundle on local prepaid rates. There are no additional activation fees or subscription charges to this service.

"We believe our innovative data roaming offering is relevant for the tens of thousands who travel between Singapore and Malaysia daily," said Mr Tian Ung Ping, the telco's assistant vice president of mobile prepaid business.

StarHub prepaid customers have to dial *123*5*2# to activate this service. The prepaid plans can be topped up by dialling *123#, or via the StarHub Happy Prepaid Android or iOS app.

This move comes hot on the heels of M1's Data Passport service, which was announced in July. Using that service, M1 postpaid customers can use their existing data bundles in six countries for $10 a month.
