SINGAPORE - StarHub postpaid customers can now sign up for an overseas data plan starting from $15 for 2GB of data when they travel to certain places overseas.

The telco announced its Mobile DataTravel plan on Thursday (Dec 1), which is available for travellers to Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.

The plan is not tied to any specific overseas telco, so users can leave their phones to connect automatically to the strongest available network.

They can also opt for a 3GB data plan which costs $20. Both plans are valid for 30 days, and do not come with a registration fee.

Users will receive a SMS notification before the plan expires or depletes. If they activate the plan again for another 30 days, the remaining data from the first plan will roll over for another 30 days of use.

"Our DataTravel customers will be able to enjoy doing what they have come to love on their phones simply and affordably, with a data plan that can be brought across multiple borders and mobile networks," said Ms Wang Li-Na, StarHub's head of product and marketing.

StarHub customers can sign up for the plan either locally or overseas by sending an SMS to StarHub or calling their toll-free hotline.
