First peeks at latest Galaxy S8 phones at Samsung Galaxy Studio

SINGAPORE - Those who want a sneak peek of Samsung's latest Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones will be able to a chance to try them in person at the Samsung Galaxy Studio showcase starting Friday (April 14).

Visitors to the Samsung Galaxy Studio, held at the Civic Plaza in Ngee Ann City, can get try their hands on the new smartphones two weeks ahead of its launch on April 29.

The latest Galaxy S8 and S8+ are "at the centre" of the new Galaxy Plus, an ecosystem of Samsung devices , which aims to redefine the consumer lifestyle, said Mr Eugene Goh, vice president of IT and mobile at Samsung Singapore.

As, visitors can also try other new Samsung products at the studio. These include the Samsung's newest 360-degree camera, Gear 360 (2017), and the DeX station, a dock that connects a Samsung phone to a monitor and keyboard.

 
 

The Galaxy Studio also contains virtual reality (VR) rides, such as a dizzying VR airplane ride that flips visitors 360 degrees and a VR rollercoaster that uses the Samsung Gear VR headset.

There are VR games, such as alien shoot-em up Space Battle, that visitors can play with the new Gear VR controller.

Visitors can also place their pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ on the spot. The 5.8-inch S8 will retail at $1,148 while the bigger 6.2-inch S8+ goes for $1,298. As an added incentive, those who pre-order the S8 and S8+ will be able to collect them a week before its official launch here.

The Samsung Galaxy Studio will run from Friday until June 29.
