APPLE IPHONE 6S PLUS

The second model in Apple's phablet line is everything that you could ever want in a large-screen device.

Compared with its predecessor, it has better rear and front cameras, a faster processor and stronger aluminium frame.

Its new 3D Touch display allows users to access features and different menu options by pressing down on the screen, making phone navigation simpler.

GOOGLE NEXUS 6P

The first all-metal phone in the Google Nexus line of devices comes with the latest Android operating system, fast fingerprint sensor and better cameras, as well as a new USB Type-C dock connector that allows it to charge twice as fast as the iPhone 6s Plus.

New features also include a low-power mode that recognises when the phone is lying stationary and not in use, so as to conserve power when displaying notifications.

LG G4

Some smartphone manufacturers drop key features such as a removable battery to create a svelte device. Not LG.

Its G4 is one of the few flagship devices in the market that feature a removable battery, as well as expandable storage via a microSD card slot - all neatly housed in a well-designed chassis that includes a feature-packed 16MP rear camera.

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 5 4G+

Samsung came up with a large-screen device before anyone else and has since been steadily making improvements to its flagship phablet.

The S Pen accessory is more intuitive than before and its camera is the best Samsung has ever produced.

The Galaxy Note 5 proves that a phablet is about more than just being big - it can include other powerful features as well.

SONY Z5 PREMIUM

Sony has never been shy about putting top-of-the-line hardware in its Xperia series of phones.

It added a 20MP camera at a time when other smartphone makers were still dabbling with 8MP or 12MP cameras, and it has now added a 23MP camera on the Z5 Premium.

It also features an ultra high-definition 4K screen, a first for smartphones.
