SINGAPORE - Singtel customers will have the option of doubling their monthly mobile data at a fixed additional cost of $5.90 a month, under a new add-on plan that starts on Thursday (March 10).
The telco announced the DataX2 plan on Wednesday (March 9). It will let customers double their mobile data when they sign up or re-contract for two years on one of Singtel's combo mobile Plans, from Combo 2 onwards.
For example, a customer on the Combo 3 plan pays S$62.90 a month and has 3GB of mobile data. They can now choose to add $5.90 every month to double their mobile data allowance to 6GB.
In a press release Mr Yuen Kuan Moon, Singtel's chief executive for consumer Singapore said: "The decision to expand our data-centric mobile plan offerings came naturally to us as this is exactly what customers want. With DataX2, customers can enjoy double their data allowance and more of their favourite videos and music on the go."
Customers who sign up for DataX2 at the IT Show 2016 - which starts on Thursday - online or at any Singtel Shop and Singtel exclusive retailer from March 10 will have double the data immediately.
In response, M1 said it will introduce two new line-only plans and offer plans that come with up to 20GB of monthly data. Details have yet to be announced.
