SINGAPORE - Budding filmmakers and content creators who want to better promote and push their productions online will soon have more support when a new Creators' Space opens in Singapore in the second half of next year.

Backed by the government, the space will offer training programmes and workshops for online content creators in areas like content production, monetisation and fan engagement. Minister for Communications and Information Yaacob Ibrahim announced this at the opening of this year's Asian Television Forum and Screen Singapore on Wednesday (Dec 2).

It will be located at the Pixel building at one-north. International media companies will also be on hand to lend their expertise to local content creators.

"We will... create opportunities for them to learn new skills to thrive in a rapidly changing media landscape," said Dr Yaacob.

One key partner is Disney's online content developer and distributor Maker Studios, which is the largest content network on YouTube with over 60 thousand independent creators from more than 100 countries.

Other partners include video-sharing website Dailymotion, which will provide advice on monetising online and video content.

To provide creative types with the infrastucture to share their content, Creators' Space will be tying up with industry partners to provide users with access to video production resources, such as hardware and software for video editing, cloud storage and technical support.

For instance, 3D design software firm Autodesk will provide creators access to and training for its high-end 3D visual software, while software firm Adobe will offer its Creative Cloud, which includes applications like Photoshop and InDesign, to users
