ASSASSIN'S CREED SYNDICATE
The ninth installation of the popular Assassin's Creed series crawls through Victorian London's gritty, seedy underbelly of organised crime. Players have to trawl through the memories of twin assassins Jacob and Evie Frye to find a hidden treasure.
BATMAN: ARKHAM KNIGHT
Batman: Arkham Knight makes the list for a gripping and roller-coaster plot, mind-bending puzzles, and great new combat options. Despite the debacle of the PC version of the game - technical issues made it so unplayable that sales were halted - it is still a marquee title this year.
METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN
Hideo Kojima's swansong is an epic, sprawling open-world game that packs enough fan service and quirks to keep players happy. Players step into Big Boss' Sneaking Suit and travel through war-torn Afghanistan, Angola and Zaire to find those behind the destruction of the Militaires Sans Frontieres.
RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER
Lara Croft is back in the second instalment of Square Enix's Tomb Raider reboot. This time she travels through the Siberian tundra to uncover the tomb of the Prophet of Constantinople. The game has a crafting system, an environment that reacts to day-night cycles and more combat options.
UNTIL DAWN
The interactive horror adventure begins like most scary movies: on a cold winter's night, in a cabin in the woods. But instead of a linear horror show, players control the fate of eight characters as they make decisions that will see them live or die at the hands of wendigos - flesh-eating former humans that have been possessed by evil spirits.
