Aftershock Titan
With two Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M graphics chips and a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, the Aftershock Titan is a gaming powerhouse. It even comes with a Thunderbolt port, which makes it versatile enough for professional users.
But its edge lies in the degree of customisation available. Not only can you choose the type of hardware, but you can also change its exterior with Aftershock's skin modifications, which range from paint jobs to carbon fibre finishes.
Asus G750JX
Inspired by the stealth fighter, the Asus G750JX is all angles with a matte black finish and rear exhaust vents. The design is similar to earlier editions, but the latest version has updated hardware, including an Intel Haswell processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 770M graphics.
And, at $2,198, it is reasonably priced for a gaming laptop, albeit with a hard drive instead of a faster solid-state drive.
Dell Alienware 18
The Dell Alienware 18 is big and powerful. Despite looking more subdued than its predecessor, the refreshed design has plenty of LEDs, including the glowing alien head distinctive to the brand.
As usual, the gaming hardware is top-notch. A set-up with dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M graphics ensures that it is able to run the latest games at the highest settings. The tactile keyboard, with extra keys for custom macros, is another feature that will be welcomed by its gaming fans.
MSI GS70 Stealth
This is the thinnest 17-inch gaming laptop in the market, according to MSI. Its aluminium chassis weighs just 2.66kg, which is portable for its size.
Gaming peripheral company SteelSeries designed the tactile keyboard, which has good key travel.
While its slim design restricts the choice of graphics chip to a mid-range GeForce GTX 765M, the laptop is more than capable of running the latest games at modest settings. Its performance is helped by a Raid configuration of two solid-state drives.
Razer Blade Pro (2013)
Razer was probably the first manufacturer to introduce a slim gaming laptop with a 17-inch screen. The Blade Pro is the latest version of that design. Along with its sleek profile, this laptop has a unique LCD touchscreen, dubbed the Switchblade UI, which is both second screen and touchpad.
While the Switchblade UI has yet to live up to its potential, the Razer Blade Pro is still a very capable gaming machine with its quad-core Intel processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M graphics.
