SingNet plan's early termination charge not stated clearly
I RECENTLY recontracted my SingNet broadband 15Mbps plan at $49.90 per month.
As I am considering upgrading to fibre broadband soon, I went online and read through SingNet's terms and conditions before I purchased my plan. I committed to the plan, only after reading that my Early Termination Charge (ETC) would be $321, pro-rated over the next 24 months of the contract period.
However, after I bought the plan, I received a more elaborate SingNet Broadband Agreement. To my astonishment, the ETC in this agreement was $1,926 (pro-rated) on top of $321 (pro-rated) due to the premium I took up.
While I understand the need for the additional ETC, I am disappointed with my SingNet online experience.
First, why were the actual terms and conditions - reflecting the additional ETC I would have to pay - not reflected during the selection process? Instead, the general terms and conditions with the default ETC amount were shown.
Second, I opted for a $49.90 plan for 24 months. The ETC is much higher than the cost of my entire plan. This seems to be an unreasonable sum.
