Acute labour shortage hits diners hard

A busy night at a restaurant can look like this: irate customers waving frantically for their orders to be taken, dirty plates waiting to be cleared and empty glasses in need of topping up.

This is becoming a common scene in restaurants here, as the labour shortage hits hard.

It comes at a cost to diners.

The rising costs of manpower, rental and raw ingredients are also translating to higher menu prices.
