Update civil servants on code of conduct

THERE have been several high-profile cases of civil servants being investigated for corruption.

Civil servants should uphold high moral standards and appreciate the opportunity and responsibility of serving the country and its people.

The civil service, being the largest employer in Singapore, should regularly update its employees on the code of conduct. Senior management, including office holders, should hold regular "town hall" meetings or discussions with their officers and hear their feedback or grouses.

The public holds civil servants in high regard.

Let us hope that the recent corruption cases are isolated events, and the civil service continues to attract qualified talent.
