New mobile app reminds glaucoma patients to apply their eyedrops
Glaucoma sufferers who forget to apply their eyedrops now have a mobile app to help remind them.
The Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) on Tuesday launched MyEyeDrops, believed to be the world's first free smartphone application for patients suffering from glaucoma, a chronic eye condition.
The app lists different eye drops with accompanying photos for glaucoma patients or their caregivers to select and offers on-the-go reminders for patients to apply the correct eyedrops on the correct eye.
A 2011 study of about 340 glaucoma patients found that over 70 per cent of them tend to forget to apply their medication.
