South Korean's act of kindness sets a good example

THANK you for featuring the inspiring story about Mr Choi Dae Ho's act of kindness on the front page of your paper ("South Korean's kind gesture generates online buzz"; last Friday).

Mr Choi's wonderful gesture reminds us that it is not how much we do, but how much kindness we put into what we do, that makes a difference in making life pleasant for all.

Not all of us can do great things but, as Mother Teresa said, all of us can do small things with great love.

What Mr Choi did is a great example of spontaneous acts of kindness, which we encourage.

It is also clearly a reflection of a young man's filial respect for the aged. It is a value we need to inculcate even as our population is rapidly ageing.
