Beyonce lip-synched live, but Singaporean artists say it's okay
Pop diva Beyonce admitted that she sang along to a pre-recorded track at the inauguration of President Barack Obama, but the practice is not new, even at big public events in Singapore such as National Day.
Local singers say they try to sing live, although many have pre-recorded tracks as a fail-safe measure.
American singer Beyonce, 31, admitted on Thursday that she faked it, after controversy raged about whether she had lip-synched. She said she sang along to her pre-recorded track and that it is common practice in the music industry.
Indeed, music industry veterans and local singers here say most of them do pre-record tracks to lip-sync to, as a back-up plan for major public events such as the National Day Parade (NDP) and televised live performances.
