Increase Medisave claim limit for mums-to-be

MY WIFE and I are expecting our first child in May, and I applaud the latest measures to promote marriage and parenthood ("The big push for more babies"; yesterday).

The increased baby bonus, from $4,000 to $6,000 for the first two births, would definitely lessen the burden for parents-to-be.

It is also good that fathers will be entitled to up to two weeks of paid paternity leave, as they can opt to take over one week of the wife's maternity leave.

Fathers can then share in the joy of looking after their babies.

However, I hope the Government can increase the maximum Medisave claimable amount for delivery and pre-natal medical expenses, by at least $500 to $1,000, from either parent's Medisave account.
