Polaroid launches world's first Android interchangeable lens camera
LAS VEGAS - Polaroid, best known for their instant cameras, has launched the world's first Android-powered compact interchangeable lens camera with the iM1836.
Running the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean mobile operating software, Polaroid iM1836 has a 18.1-megapixel image sensor, 3.5-inch touchscreen display, pop-up flash, 1080p full high-definition video capture capability and comes with a 10-30mm zoom lens.
It has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for users to upload their photos instantly.
A representative on the CES 2013 showfloor was not able to answer questions about the crop factor of the camera but confirmed the image sensor is only 1-inch. This would be similar to the CX sensors found in Nikon 1 mirrorless cameras, which has a crop factor of 2.7.
