Eugene Loo quits after nine years as the Lions' team manager
TWO weeks after the Lions won a record fourth Asean football title, the team have lost another valuable member.
Team manager Eugene Loo resigned today, citing family commitments. He was appointed in 2004 and was part of the national football team that were champions of South-east Asia in 2004, 2007 and 2012 under coach Raddy Avramovic. Singapore have another title won in 1998 under former coach Barry Whitbread.
Avramovic had earlier said he would not be renewing his contract - which expired on Dec 31 - as the national coach with the Football Association of Singapore. Veteran striker Aleksandar Duric, 42, had also announced his international retirement.
Loo thanked the FAS' senior management, former president Ho Peng Kee, current president Zainudin Nordin, general secretary Winston Lee and the staff at the association for what he described as "a very satisfying and fulfilling journey".
