Consider GST waiver on medical spending

AS THE Ministry of Health undertakes its review to ensure that public health care remains accessible and affordable ("Major review to keep health care affordable"; last Friday), I suggest that interim measures be implemented expeditiously.

One such measure is to remove the GST component of a medical goods and services bill. This presently stands at 7 per cent of the costs of the medical goods supplied and the medical services rendered.

I hope the relevant authorities will act promptly on the suggestion.
