No more space in S'pore for more cars

WE ARE very lucky that the Government took measures to restrict the number of cars on our roads, and I hope more will be introduced to further reduce car ownership ("Car buyers want COE system reviewed"; Tuesday).

The alternative would be a constant, monster traffic jam islandwide, causing high pollution levels and resulting in Singapore becoming a much less attractive place.

Visit Jakarta, Manila, Bangkok, Delhi, Mumbai or Paris and you will see why cars are not compatible with today's cities.

Cars have no future in Singapore; there is no more space.
