Mandela responding to treatment: Zuma
PRETORIA (AFP) - South African President Jacob Zuma on Saturday visited Mr Nelson Mandela in hospital and said he was responding to treatment, two weeks after being admitted for tests which revealed a recurring lung infection.
Mr Zuma urged the nation to keep praying for the 94-year-old anti-apartheid hero and revered statesman.
"We urge South Africans to continue praying for our beloved Madiba during this period. Our hearts are with the whole family and relatives," he said in a statement, adding that Mr Mandela continues to respond to treatment.
Mr Zuma's spokesman Mac Maharaj, who was imprisoned with Mr Mandela on Robben Island declined to give details about the visit, saying "the focus should be on his health".
