Orchard Road Christmas light-up draws flak yet again

Christmas festivities are in full swing, but shoppers on Orchard Road are not quite cheering the festive decorations there.

This year's theme of Christmas On A Great Street is drawing flak from Singaporeans for being too red. Some say it reminds them too much of the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations in February. Others yearned for last year's blue-and-silver shimmer, which put them in the mood for a white Christmas.

Taxi driver Lim Cheng Kim, 50, says that she was disappointed with the lights: "I get the sense that decorations have been deproving year after year. I don't feel compelled to return to take photos of the lights anymore."
