Senior citizen taken aback by bus driver's dare

MY 65-YEAR-OLD mother was carrying a large bag of groceries when she tried to alight from service 22 at the St Hilda's Secondary School bus stop along Tampines Avenue 4 at about 10am on Dec 11. However, before she could do so, the exit door closed.

She pressed the bell again to alert the driver but the door remained closed. When she walked to the front of the bus and asked the driver why he closed the door so swiftly, he retorted by asking her why she was so slow.

She said that she would lodge a complaint but the driver astonished her by replying that he was not afraid and dared her to do so. He sped off after that and my mother did not manage to record the bus registration number.

I am certain that the driver's behaviour was not part of the training he received.
