Give hard-working, slower learning citizens a chance
MY NEPHEW is finishing National Service soon and is looking for a job in the hotel or health-care industries.
He works hard, has completed his N levels, and can speak and communicate fairly well. However, he is a slow learner.
Employers looking to fill job vacancies can tap these workers instead of looking abroad. They may be slow learners but with proper training and the right environment, they can more than exceed expectations.
Perhaps the Workforce Development Agency could step in to provide training programmes with the aim of filling job vacancies in the hotel and health-care industries.
These slow learners should be given the chance to have a normal working life and we should not overlook them.
