Why unfaithful leaders must quit

THE answer to the question in the headline ("Should we hold our leaders to high moral standards in their private lives?"; last Saturday) is an unequivocal "yes".

Many have put forth arguments that if one can function well in one's job, then one's private life does not matter. However, when a person enters into an illicit affair, he or she starts to lie. This behaviour of lying is what we must consider. Starting with one's spouse, he or she will slowly begin to lie to friends, colleagues and relatives as well. Where will he or she draw the line?

An illicit affair draws one in deeper and deeper. It will drain your concentration and it will affect your work.
