Dorm operators form association to raise standards
MAJOR dormitory operators have banded together to roll out new benchmarks to uplift the industry ridden by complaints on poor living conditions.
The eight companies, which offer over 100,000 of the estimated 150,000 bed spaces in purpose-built dorms, have formed the Dormitory Association of Singapore Limited (DASL).
The goal is to get more dorm operators to join the association and to follow the set of bench marks which cover areas such as drainage, room and sanitation facilities.
The eight founding members signed a document to undertake that they will follow the benchmarks this morning.
