Four businesses receive President's Challenge Social Enterprise Award


They hire ex-convicts, delinquents and disadvantaged women.

And for their efforts to make society better, four businesses here were presented with trophies and cash awards between $10,000 and $15,000 at the inaugural President's Challenge Social Enterprise Award last week on Dec 6.

Garment alteration business A-Changin, which has two outlets in Chevron House and Mandarin Gallery, and western food chain Eighteen Chefs, which has three outlets in Simei, Fusionopolis and Tiong Bahru, were both given the Social Enterprise Of The Year Award.

And bak kut teh chain New Soon Huat, with two outlets in Jalan Kayu and Ang Mo Kio, was named Social Enterprise Start-Up Of The Year.
