Are insurers liable if bike falls off car?

IN transporting a bicycle on a car, I am concerned about whether the motor insurers would cover the driver in the event of an accident, for instance, if the bike falls off the car roof and hits a pedestrian ("Booked, but officer couldn't say what's the right way to transport bike" by Ms Ng Hwee Ling; Tuesday and "Aren't bikes on car roofs a common sight?" by Mr Lee Joo Mong; Thursday).

If I am not wrong, the policy only allows the driver to ferry passengers and not bikes, unless it can be kept in the boot.
