Employers need a day off too
WHILE I agree that maids should have a day off weekly, the problem arises when they care for employers who are wheelchair-bound or whose family members include frail seniors.
While employers are prepared to compensate maids for working on their days off, the law should not be imposed in such a way that it becomes a penalty to make them work on rest days.
It is ironic to trade an employer's weekend day of rest for a maid's day off. Many employers work six days a week and if they are forced to give their maids a day off, employers will have none.
