Indian sitarist and composer Ravi Shankar dies aged 92
MUMBAI - Ravi Shankar, the sitarist and composer described as the "godfather of world music" by Beatles guitarist George Harrison, has died, Bloomberg reported. He was 92.
"It's with a very heavy heart that I confirm this sad news," his manager Earl Blackburn, said in an e-mail to Bloomberg.
The Hindu newspaper said Shankar died in San Diego on Tuesday. He was admitted to the Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla last Thursday after complaining of breathing difficulties.
