Girl in Berlusconi sex trial said to be in Mexico
ROME (AFP) - The young Moroccan woman at the centre of a sex trial involving former Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi has left Italy and is apparently in Mexico, her lawyer said on Tuesday, according to a media report.
"Ruby the Heart-Stealer", whose real name is Ms Karima El-Mahroug, was due to testify on Monday in the trial against Mr Berlusconi for abuse of power and buying sex from a minor.
According to Italian news agency Ansa, Ruby told her lawyer Paola Boccardi she has been in Mexico since the end of November with her partner.
Mr Boccardi said she had told prosecutors in Milan that Ruby was expected back in Italy in January.
