Blockbuster show of 1,500 years of Buddhist art at Asian Civilisations Museum


Through 190 works drawn from Thai national museums as well as the National Heritage Board's collection, Enlightened Ways: The Many Streams Of Buddhist In Thailand, looks at 1,500 years of Buddhist art in Thailand.

On at the Asian Civilisations Museum till April 17, it offers more than a well-curated collection of Buddha statues.

A mix of artefacts, artworks, scrolls, even textiles showcase not just the diversity of the art but also the many influences that shaped it over the years.

Several serene statues of Buddha are presented together with gold ornaments, sculptures, paintings, amulets, even textiles. Many of the artefacts have never been exhibited outside Thailand and what a story they weave.
