Other ways to fund a pay hike

COMMUTERS have always had to pay for an increase in salary for bus drivers ("Bus fares may go up to help improve drivers' pay"; yesterday).

I have three suggestions to increase the salary of bus drivers without resorting to fare spikes: Use the foreign workers' levy to finance the hike, cut total pay for top management and shed substantially the payout to shareholders.

If these three measures are adopted, I am certain bus operators will have the money to increase the pay of their drivers without hiking bus fares.
