Religious teacher jailed 9 months for getting foster daughter to do indecent act

A religious teacher was jailed for nine months today for getting a child to do an indecent act.

The 38-year-old man and his wife, also a religious teacher, had agreed to look after the nine-year-old daughter of a friend, a divorcee, in 2007.

In March that year, the man asked the girl to give him a massage in a bedroom. His wife was then holding a religious class in another room at that time.

He asked the girl to massage his chest and later his private parts, and then gave her $2. It was only four years later that the girl told a school counsellor about the act.
