DO NOT PUBLISH: Former MediaCorp actor Chen Wencong dies


Chen Wencong, a MediaCorp actor turned writer and executive producer, died on Wednesday. He was 42, said Lianhe Zaobao.

The cause of death was pneumonia, a result of rejection after he had a bone marrow transplant during his battle with acute leukaemia last year, said the report.

A Star Search finalist in 1992, Chen was a contemporary of actresses Ivy Lee and Lina Ng and acted in dramas such as Hero Of The Times. He also wrote series such as Right Frequency and produced and directed variety programmes such as Say It If You Dare, It's A Small World and Food Source.

Chen, who dated actress May Phua, married a former air stewardess in 2008. He is survived by his wife.
