Cheapest high-end DSLR camera ever launched, Canon EOS 6D
Canon launched the lowest-priced high-end DSLR camera, the Canon EOS 6D, for sale here last Thursday. The $2,899 full-frame camera is the second such premium model to hit the shelves here with a more affordable price tag, aimed at photography enthusiasts.
The first, Nikon D600, priced at $3,249, went on sale on Sep 18.
Other such models launched in the last three years cost $1,500 to $7,000 more. These prices are for the camera body alone. These cameras are dubbed "full frame" because their sensors are the size of one frame of 35mm film.
Such full-frame cameras, which are the choice of professional photographers, boast the largest image sensor and offer the best images among digital cameras.
