Duty-free, but dearer than elsewhere

I AM puzzled why wines and liquor in the duty free shop at Changi Airport tend to be dearer than outside the airport. For example, Oyster Bay wine was selling for $34 per bottle at the Duty Free shop @ Changi Airport while retailers elsewhere were charging $65 for two bottles.

What confused me further was when a Duty Free shop assistant told me that two bottles of Black Opal cost more because the duty had been paid, which begged the question of why the shop claims to sell duty-free products. The airport retailer should live up to its claim of selling items at much cheaper prices compared to any other outlet in Singapore.
