Sembawang Soccer Academy ordered to pay for contract breach
Local soccer training school Sembawang Soccer Academy was on Wednesday ordered by the High Court to pay more than 814,000 euros (S$1.2 million) to Italy-based Genova International School of Soccer (GISS) for breach of contract.
The court ruled in favour of Genova after a short hearing, in which no representative or lawyer from Sembawang turned up to defend the suit.
The two sides had signed a contract in July last year for 825,000 euros which involved an overseas training programme for young Singapore players.
The contract was to be divided into two terms, with the first payment of 375,000 euros due on July 22, 2011.
